This weekend in the Sunshine State has brought a constant, steady but soothing rain. They say it isn't a tropical system but it sure seems like that the way it just keeps rolling in.
Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining, I rather like it. I love to listen to the thunder, and watch the lightening, I Love the dark clouds as they roll along majestically making all sorts of interesting objects in the sky.
I've always been a sky watcher and a cloud scryer it is just something that has come natural to me.
But there is always something that holds true for the rain and that is its cleansing nature. The air is never fresher nor the roads cleaner than just after a wondrous downpour of rain.
Rain is a good cleanser for the soul as well. The next time you find a lot of rain in your area, instead of letting it get you down just relax and feel natures cleansing agent take care of your soul as well.
Let the rain wash away your negativity, your fears, pain, anguish, frustration, just let it flow out of you and down into the gutter and wash far away.
I'm not suggesting you go running outside in the actual rain and risk the lightening, unless that's your bag of tea... but I am saying to connect with the rain on a spiritual level.
My Elemental friends would tell me I've been hanging around them too long...LOL but I have always loved a good Thunderstorm.
We have a problem in this world right now. We all tend to cling on to our crap too much. We hold onto our negativity and pain because we have become accustomed to it, and the strange thing about the Human psyche is that what it becomes accustomed to it becomes comfortable with. You can see that even with people who have chronic pain, if ever they are relieved of the pain many times they find themselves going into a state of depression because it feels like an old friend has just left them.
Well I say that's a bunch of crap. We don't need our negativity and we should let it flow out of us and let the rain wash it all away freely. I promise you, you will feel much better if you do.
If you ever find yourself having a dream with rain in it, especially if you get wet by the rain this generally means that you are allowing yourself to be cleansed spiritually and emotionally. Rain is always a symbol of cleansing and releasing and can also be sign of abundance and blessing.
Now I know right now in the northern states there is a severe problem with the rain. I know about the flooding and the anguish and pain the excess rain has caused. I'm not excusing mother nature for such devastation, but then we can't blame her either. Nature is as nature does, and we have lived on this planet long enough that we should understand that by now.
All we can do as an individual, a people, a culture, a nation is to rebuild and hopefully learn from our mistakes. For surely it is our mistakes and our underestimation of nature which leaves us prone to such things. Hopefully next time we rebuild we will be stronger and we can withstand a greater natural force next time.
I pray for all of those families who are in the flooded regions and especially for those who have lost loved ones. YES... I know what you are thinking.. and Yes.. I pray. I may not do it in the traditional sense, but I do pray to the One Source and I give my thoughts and energy to those in need.
So wherever you are this weekend, I hope you can at least look at the rain with a little more tolerance and know it is simply doing its job of washing things away.
