Some of you may scoff at me saying that George Carlin was a Master, but he truly was. George was one of the forerunners to the Indigo Kids. He was completely anti establishment and he took it to the edge pushing the envelope in the name of freedom and free speech.
While I may not have been around for much of George Carlin's career, he still played an influential role on me. George showed me that it was OK to stand up against the rules when necessary or when they were stupid, such as he did with his seven words skit.
Even now those same seven words are hardly if ever used on TV or radio, some of which will still get you fined heavily by the FCC.
I remember Gorge Carlin most for his role as Rufus in the 1980's movie Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. He was the one sent back in time to instruct Bill and Ted in using the time machine telephone booth and how important they were to the future of Humanity.
George was a Master at comedy and at knowing who he was. I'm not saying George Carlin didn't have his negative sides, but in some respect it was those negatives that made him all the more funny. Sure his chronic smoking and drug habit especially the use of cocaine may have led to him dying now at 71 instead of 81 but in some ways I'm sure he preferred to go now while he was still performing and enjoying life. George never seemed to be the kind of guy who would fade out.
Another favorite role of Gorge Carlin's for me was his portrayal of a Catholic Priest in Dogma. Some say that it was sacrilegious but I loved it, especially considering his stand up acts on the Catholic church.
Some of you may not know that George Carlin was the first host on Saturday Night Live, another topping moment for his career, though at the time probably not realized.
George Carlin will be missed, and I hope he will not be forgotten. I may hold a moment of silence for him today but then again probably he would prefer a hearty laugh, because I bet George was laughing all the way through the veil.
P.S. George's listed time of death was 5:55 PM another clue that he truly was a Master.
Party on George, Party On!
In reverence,
Lord Horus
